I had the absolute honor of photographing Haley and Kyle’s wedding in beautiful Boulder, Colorado, and it’s one I’ll never forget.
Their day was filled with emotion, elegance, and deeply meaningful moments that made it truly unforgettable.
Surrounded by the stunning mountain backdrop, classic architecture, and a whole lot of love, every part of the day felt thoughtful and intentional.
From getting ready at the luxurious St. Julien Hotel to their traditional Catholic ceremony and golden hour portraits at Chautauqua Park, Haley and Kyle’s wedding was the perfect blend of timeless beauty and heartfelt celebration.
It was a day full of joyful tears, heartfelt tributes, and an energy that made everyone feel like part of something truly special.
Getting Ready
St. Julien Hotel in Boulder
The day began at the St. Julien Hotel, a luxury wedding venue in downtown Boulder known for its elegant rooms and stunning views. I captured detail photos and getting ready moments while excitement filled the air.
One of the most emotional parts of the morning was when Haley stepped into her wedding dress, a gown her own mother wore on her wedding day. It was a beautiful tribute to both her mom and her late father. Haley also had a special charm pinned to her bouquet in memory of her dad, so he could walk with her in spirit throughout the day. These small but powerful details made the morning incredibly heartfelt.
First Look
With her mom, uncles and bridesmaids
While Haley’s father couldn’t be there, she was surrounded by love and support. She shared a sweet and emotional first look with first with her mom and then with her uncles, who later walked her down the aisle. As well as the emotional first look Haley decided to do a fun first look with her bridesmaids!
Capturing those moments reminded me why I love what I do. It’s about preserving real, powerful stories through timeless photos.
Ceremony
Sacred Heart of Mary in Boulder, Colorado
After first looks at the St. Julien, we all hopped on a party bus to Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Boulder. This beautiful brick church, originally built in 1873 out of wood and reconstructed with brick in 1913, is steeped in history and charm. Nestled against the backdrop of the mountains, its timeless exterior of red brick and arched windows sets the tone before you even step inside.
Once inside, the space takes your breath away. The walls are painted a soft white with elegant gold trim, giving the sanctuary a warm, glowing feel. Light pours in through the colorful stained glass windows, each one a work of art in itself, casting vivid reflections of red, blue, and green across the pews. The blue and gold accents throughout complement the natural light and create a serene, almost ethereal atmosphere. It’s the kind of church where you instantly feel the beauty of tradition and sacredness.
The ceremony was a full Catholic mass filled with meaningful music and song, heartfelt prayer, and sacred rituals that brought a sense of peace and reverence to everyone present. There was a quiet stillness in the room, only broken by the beautiful sound of the organ and the words of Haley & Kyle's dear friend and priest.
Haley looked absolutely radiant, and you could see the happiness on her face from across the room. It was like she was glowing. Truly a joy to photograph. Her smile lit up the aisle, and the way Kyle looked at her as she walked towards him made it impossible not to get caught up in the emotion of the moment.
As the sunlight streamed through the stained glass, casting bursts of color across the space, it felt like time stood still. There was laughter, a few happy tears, and that indescribable kind of love that you can’t fake. It just fills the room.
It was a ceremony full of beauty, reverence, and joy, an unforgettable start to an incredible celebration.
Portraits at Chautauqua Park
After the ceremony, we headed to one of Boulder's most iconic photo spots, Chautauqua Park. With the Flatirons in the background, this location is a dream for a Boulder wedding photographer. We did group photos with the wedding party and family, which took a little wrangling as big groups always do, but the results were worth every second.
Time for some quiet moments
Now that these two have started their journey as newlyweds I really wanted to capture that love and happiness. I decided to steal Haley and Kyle away for a few quiet moments together as newlyweds. These portraits with the golden Colorado light and mountain backdrop turned out to be some of my favorites from the day.
Reception and dancing
St. Julien Hotel
We made our way back to the St. Julien Hotel for cocktail hour in their beautiful courtyard.
The reception followed with heartfelt toasts, incredible dancing, and a surprise visit from Chip the Buffalo, the University of Colorado mascot. Guests having an amazing time and the energy in the room was unmatched
